Pat Flynn announced Nov. 19 he will run for Senate again in 2012 as a Republican challenger in the race for Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson’s seat. The Schuyler, Neb. investment adviser lost a 2008 bid for Chuck Hagel’s open seat, garnering only 22 percent of the vote against Mike Johanns in the primary election. Flynn is the first candidate to officially file for the 2012 campaign. Nebraska Attorney Jon Bruning announced Nov. 5 that he expects to make a bid for the seat. Nelson has hinted that he will seek reelection in 2012.
