Lincoln’s First United Methodist Church is making Nebraska’s immigration law the focus of its annual Peacemaking Conference scheduled for Jan. 16. Local lawmakers, lawyers and church leaders — including Rev. Frederick McCullough and State Sen. Brenda Council of Omaha — will speak on Nebraska’s current and future immigration law at the one-day conference hosted at the church at 2723 N. 50th St. in Lincoln. Last week, state senators Charlie Janssen, of Fremont, and Tony Fulton, of Lincoln, announced they were drafting more stringent immigration laws in preparation for the 2011 Nebraska Legislative session, which begins Jan. 5.
