* The Playing with Fire concert series is moving its Saturday, July 16 show, headlined by Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, to higher ground. The new location is at Stinson Park in Aksarben Village. Organizers decided to move to the public park, which sits on the southwest corner of the development near West Center Road and South 65th Avenue, after rising flood concerns along the downtown riverfront forced the event from its longtime home on the Lewis & Clark Landing. A free parking garage will be available to concertgoers at Center Street and South 64th Avenue. Gates will open at 4 p.m. for the free show. For more information, check out playingwithfireomaha.net.
* Stir Cove continues to round out the line-up for its summer concert series, despite its own precarious position by the river. The three latest acts are headlined by another marquee indie music booking. Atmospheric, orchestral folk rocker Bon Iver will bring songs from his two critically-acclaimed albums to the Harrah’s Council Bluffs casino’s outdoor concert bowl Thursday, September 8. The variety continues as 90’s grunge-pop stars Bush take the Stir stage Saturday, August 13. Rap icon Snoop Dogg is booked for Thursday, July 28. Tickets for all three shows go on sale Friday, June 24 at 10 a.m. For more information, visit stircove.com
