Cameroon native Gerard Pefung creates artwork that “celebrates the art of living in congruence.” Known for his powerfully rich paintings of the “most commanding land creature,” the elephant, Pefung will open a discussion about all things art, followed by a social with food and drink from the Indian Oven. Pefung’s mixed-media works and paintings will be exhibited at the restaurant for viewer’s pleasure and, the artist hopes, inspiration. “It is my hope that by representing the beauty of the elephant in my work, we as people will implement into our lives the same traits these animals so effortlessly embody,” said the Kent Bellows Studio mentor. “Elephants teach us that strength does not have to be defined by the overpowering of others and that respecting the bonds of family, community and each other is what makes us truly formidable.”
