Locally Peerless has been on a three-month hiatus, but the co-directors have been busy showing their creative work elsewhere including Caleb Coppock’s inclusion in DATA/FIELDS, an international new media group show at Artisphere in Arlington, Virginia. Omaha will now experience his “Graphite Sequencer” interactive series shown there in this Audio Drawings exhibit. The project explores and interprets how graphite conducts electricity via a custom turntable that converts the electrical resistence of graphite into sound by joining the surface of drawing with the circuitry of a tone generator. “A drawing on paper becomes a hand-rendered sequence. The circular compositions contain electrical and visual information, forming a rotating field of data,” Coppock wrote in his statement. (sharonsteelerealestate.com) Drawing techniques and glitches can be witnessed in the array of drawings exhibited as well as the live translations produced during the exhibit.
