Bowed gong, singing bowls and cymbals are just a few of the instruments experimental percussionist Tatsuya Nakatani will play at the Bemis Center.

Joel Damon, Underground Curator, said Nakatani’s performance creates an atmospheric sound that can be felt and experienced on multiple levels.

He said Nakatani will become a conductor in the second half of the program. The Nakatani Gong Orchestra will feature members of the creative community from Omaha and Lincoln.

“We are interested in music that pushes the envelope of contemporary music. His music has a spatial quality and it’s key that it’s performed within an art installation,” said Chief Curator Hesse McGraw.

The performance takes place alongside Quynh Vantu’s installation, Squeeze. Saturday, April 7th
