The eighth annual Omaha Health Expo takes place April 11 and 12 at the CenturyLink. It’s an important convocation because it’s the only assemblage of its kind in the region. With a focus on holistic approaches to wellness, the Omaha Health Expo stands alone in providing information and access to ways to get healthy and stay healthy outside the conventional drug, surgery and techno-pharmaceutical industry that has overwhelmed American healthcare.
Emphasizing holistic medicine and treatments, lifestyle change, exercise and nutrition awareness, the Expo brings about 200 such practitioners under one roof. And, once again, admission is free.
The two-day event will also include a benefit Walk for Alzheimer’s, Midwest Chapter on Saturday with registration at the CenturyLink at 9:30 (or online). Sunday features the third annual Omaha Biathlon bicycle/run event and a timed 5K run. Register for that online at OmahaHealthExpo.com.
But the greatest attraction will be the opportunities you’ll find inside the CenturyLink on Saturday and Sunday. So, to encourage your attendance, we’re publishing our Top Ten Reasons to attend.
Reason #10: It’s free. Already mentioned, it’s free to the public! Most other conferences of this sort charge around 10 bucks for admission. It’s rumored this could be the last year the Expo is free, so take advantage of it.
Reason #9: Meditation Mavens. Come to the Expo to see Katy Perry, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, Gisele Bündchen, Russell Brand, Howard Stern, Jerry Seinfeld, Naomi Watts, Lena Dunham, Cheryl Crowe, Stevie Wonder and more. Well, maybe not in person, but visit Booth 2508 to watch an exclusive video of celebrities who have learned Transcendental Meditation.
In 21 years since Heartland Healing was conceived, I’ve been asked thousands of times, “What can I do for this [situation], this illness, this issue?” My answer is to always tell people about my belief that the most important thing one can do is to learn real meditation. I was told over 30 years ago that Transcendental Meditation is “…the Cadillac of meditation. When you learn TM, you really know that you’ve learned meditation.” There will be a variety of meditation teachers at different booths at the Expo. You’ll find out all you need to know about this beneficial and easy-to-learn practice that is essential to wellness and peace of mind.
Reason #8: Hold your water. Do you want clean, pure, fresh water instead of the unknowns that come out of your tap? Futuramic Systems offers an Expo special. You can get a reverse osmosis treatment system for your drinking water in your house or apartment for less than 20 bucks a month! You spend that much on bottled water. Now you have no excuse to drink or cook with the stuff that comes from your faucet.
Reason #7: Chiropractic works. You’ve heard the ads on Husker football radio. Come learn about the services a chiropractor can offer. You’ll be surprised how healthy you can be without drugs or surgery. Several chiropractors will be in attendance and you can ask them all the questions you want about this traditional form of healing.
Reason #6: Eat well to be well. Is grass fed beef really better? What’s the best way to take advantage of super-nutritious kale — without having to eat it? You can find out directly from the farmers in the Healthy Foods Section of the Expo.
Reason #5: Got pot? Get the lowdown on medical marijuana in Nebraska and elsewhere at the Nebraska NORML booth.
Reason #4: Free massage. Ahhh, that feels good! Get a free demonstration massage from multiple massage therapists, organized and offered by the Universal College for the Healing Arts. UCHA is also offering a track for Continuing Education Units. Visit UCHA.edu for information and see them at the Expo.
Reason #3: Yoga. Wonder about the wonders of yoga? Want to try it out as a first-timer? Or looking for a new yoga teacher maybe? Come to the Expo for several demonstrations and discussion opportunities led by yoga pros who really know their stuff.
Reason #2: Metaphysics and Spirituality. The Expo features the largest gathering of experts on metaphysics, psychic energy, spirituality and energy work in the Midwest. Learn about Native American practices for healing and divination, explore your own psychic abilities, listen to pop phenom Psychic Andy in a free talk, see demonstrations on breath work and how to manifest your thoughts. Dr. Jack Kasher, physics professor emeritus from UN-O reveals “UFOs are Real.” Intuitive healers teach how to activate the healing power within each of us.
Dr. Shawn Schmidt will teach how your internal biome — that’s the huge population of friendly bacteria in your gut — has impact on your health and wellbeing. Over a dozen featured speakers on the Main Stage and dozens more in breakout sessions in three separate seminar rooms. All of these educational opportunities are free. The offerings at the Expo are unparalleled and of the sort unseen elsewhere in the Midwest.
Reason #1: Heartland Healing will be at the Expo to help you find what you need and guide you to the resources you’re seeking. Visit us at Booth #2507. The list of reasons to attend the Expo could go on and on but the biggest reason is that you won’t find many of these opportunities in any other way.
Be well.
Heartland Healing is a metaphysically based polemic describing alternatives to conventional methods of healing the body, mind and planet. It is provided as information and entertainment, certainly not medical advice. Important to remember and pass on to others: for a weekly dose of Heartland Healing, visit HeartlandHealing.com.
