Continuing their mission of inspiring an open and diverse dialogue on current critical issues, and fostering understanding through art, the Bemis Center presents All Together Amongst Many: Reflections on Empathy, opening June 5.
The diverse, group exhibition explores defining contemporary sociopolitical issues and their effect on our culture. From land rights to civil rights, from health care to racism, from criminal justice to immigration, climate change and more, the exhibit aims to “awaken shared beliefs in humanity during these polarizing times” according to a recent Bemis press release.
Organized by Rachel Adams, Chief Curator, and Director of Programs, twenty multigenerational artists from across the US and Canada, each to be connected with a local organization; their collaborations highlighting the issues represented in the exhibition and resulting in a range of public and private programs. Several of the works will facilitate or employ viewer participation.
The opening reception for Bemis Summer Exhibits will take place June 5, from 2 to 5 p.m. The exhibition may be viewed at Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts through September 19, 2021. Entry is free. Associated programs are planned and include music, dance, installation and performance, and coinciding with the ending of the exhibit, a collaborative event focusing on agriculture and food justice, for September 17-19.
