Every week The Reader will pick out noteworthy agenda items from the Douglas County Board of Commissioners and the Omaha City Council. Visit the county and city’s websites to view the full agendas.
- Land Bank Appointment: During the July 13 meeting, the Omaha City Council laid over the appointment of former Omaha City Councilmember Ben Gray to the Omaha Municipal Land Bank after several of his former constituents in District 2 spoke in opposition. The vote to approve fell short of the five-vote supermajority required for appointments. The Council will vote again during Tuesday’s meeting.
- TIF for Blackstone Plaza: The City Council will vote on nearly $6 million in tax-increment financing for Blackstone Plaza. The project will renovate the former Kiewit Plaza Building at 3555 Farnam St. for retail and restaurant space.
- County Board: The Douglas County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on financing Creighton University construction projects, including a new health sciences education facility and a 400-bed residence hall, during Tuesday’s meeting.
