Who’s Your Daddy?
While Omaha is rich with nutritious and locally sourced foods as a whole, one of our communities is actually classified as a food desert. Fresh, whole foods are scarce in parts of North Omaha, leaving residents with few healthy meal options. One business working to remedy this is Daddy’s Neighborhood Fresh Market. Specializing in local produce, dairy, pork, and grass-fed beef and lamb, Daddy’s even offers delivery to those who are unable to make it into the market. Employees strive to educate their customers on health and sustainabilty, and lead by example by locally sourcing and supporting area farmers. The owners are currently hoping that the crowd-funding site Barnraiser can help them raise enough money to purchase a 12 person van and refrigerated trailer. We go together like a grilled cheese donut and chunky tomato basil soup
Tom and Chee, brainchild of Trew Quackenbush and Corey Ward, is the answer to both your 7 year old and your pregnant wife. With creamy blends of cheese, a build your own sandwich selection, and hot creamy soups, you could dine for days without repeating a meal. An episode of Shark Tank earned them a financial backer in Barbara Corcoran, and an episode of Man Vs Food earned them a fan in Adam Richman with their Blueberry compote and bleu cheese donut. A location in Omaha earned them the heart of my inner child and my food budget for the next week. http://www.tomandchee.com/menu/fancy-grilled-cheese-donuts/
