Sept. 17-19 Glamorous Antique Sale w/ Mary Thompson Bancroft Street Market, 2702 S. 10th St. 10 a.m.-6 p.m., FREE, 651.2327 bancroftstreetmarket.com Omaha hoarder Mary Thompson, whom TLC and The Reader profiled in 2010, is holding an antique sale to support her ongoing recovery. Among the potpourri for sale is a mink coat, vintage hats, collectible purses, jewelry, four-poster beds, dressers, a dining room table, silverware, books, bookcases, a wedge for splitting wood, tools and a kettle for making root beer. Oh, and then there’s the parachute. Thompson reports making great progress disposing of her excess. She’s even arranged for an organization to haul away whatever’s left from the three-day sale, all in keeping with a vow that “nothing will come back to my place.” Call it a sale, a purge or a cry for help, she’s asking people to “help a hoarder and buy something.”
