Get a glimpse of Native American culture when elders from the Oglala Sioux, Omaha, Winnebago and Cheyenne nations deliver testimonies of survival, and Native actors/readers preview a play by Valery Killscrow Copeland. Elders Violet Gladfelter, Myrna Red Owl, Lester Killscrow and Cassie Rhodes are the storytellers sharing intimate tales of surviving boarding schools, reservation poverty and adoption outside the tribe. The Readers Theater performance will present excerpts from Killscrow Copeland’s still-in-progress Obscenities from a Toaster. The program is a collaboration of Sheila Rocha’s Indigenous Collective of Theater & Art in Omaha and Arizona-based Red Ink magazine, with support from Creighton University’s Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Rose Theater. – Leo Adam Biga
