It’s time to raise another toast to St. Joe Strummer, as the anthemic indie rock band returns to Omaha. The Hold Steady have made Omaha a regular tour stop since first playing the Sokol Underground in 2007. For all the attention paid to singer Craig Finn’s sing-speak narratives, Tad Kubler’s guitarwork guides this rock band’s live show with his huge guitar solos and whipsmart leads, both of which are informed by the best of 1970s classic rock. Finn spent the better part of 2011 supporting his own Americana-leaning solo album, Clear Heart Full Eyes. Now that his main act is reconvened, the big question is what will the next chapter be for America’s best bar band.
