This weekend is the Riverfront Wine Festival at Aksarben Village from 4:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. Friday and Saturday nights, August 24 and 25. There will be over 200 wines to sample, craft beers and free wine seminars. Included also, will be live jazz music and lots of people to mingle with while you chat about wine. If wine is your thing then grab a ticket at Corkscrew Wine and Cheese or at Wohlner’s Grocery and at the event door. Your attendance supports the Junior League of Omaha’s A Book of My Own Program. 

Another event to choose this weekend is the Hatch Chile Fest 2012 at Roja Old Market. Watch and enjoy the roasting of more than 1,300 pounds of green chilies from Hatch New Mexico. There will be a Hatch menu created for the event while Roja’s fire pit patio beer garden will have lots of specials. One can also purchase Hatch chiles for $3 a pound already fire-roasted (while supplies last) to create their own recipes at home or freeze for up to six months. This event runs from Noon to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday August 25 or from Noon to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday August 26 (or until the chiles are gone). Roja Old Market is located at 1212 Harney Street. 

Ryan’s Bistro in West Omaha has a new Happy Hour Menu. Urban Wine Company is hosting an Argentina wine and dinner event on Wednesday August 29th at 7:00p.m. There will be a 5-course meal paired with red and whites wines from Argentina.
