I grew up watching Kevin Nealon on Saturday Night Live. Nealon started on the show during the 1987-1988 season and remained for an impressive nine seasons. While his time would probably never be considered the show’s Golden Age, with co-stars like Dana Carvey, Jon Lovitz, Phil Hartman, Mike Myers and later Adam Sandler and Chris Farley, Nealon rode the SNL wave through a period where the show was relevant, cutting-edge and thoroughly entertaining. With characters like Subliminal Man, Hanz and Franz (along with Carvey) and his time at the Weekend Update “News” desk, Nealon’s run as the show’s weirdo-in-residence and his peculiarity and nonchalance made him one of SNL’s most underrated performers. Lately he has made a name for himself as playing the loveable dickhead of a stoner Doug Wilson on Weeds. He is also an accomplished writer and stand-up comedian.
