In Spanish La Mesa means The Table, but to people in the Omaha metropolitan area, La Mesa stands for really great Mexican food. Tried and true recipes from around Guadalajara, Mexico that were handed down from grandparents to entrepreneurs opening restaurants in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1993 and a year later in Bellevue.

Today, La Mesa is a very popular Mexican restaurant that has expanded to five convenient locations in the metro area: 156 and Q; 110 and Maple; Ft. Crook Road and Highway 370 in Bellevue; 84th and Tara Plaza in Papillon; and Lake Manawa Exit in Council Bluffs.

“People love what we do. It’s a combination of things that we offer at La Mesa from great food, great service, location, and our prices,” said General Manager Jose Salazar. “We try to offer the best quality of product. We always use fresh meats, fresh products, fresh produce and ingredients. We bring some recipes from our parents and from Mexico.”

Having the selection that people like is what helps make La Mesa so popular.

“Fajitas is always a customer favorite. The chimichangas never go wrong,” said Salazar. “We also have new items that people love. Right now we have the grilled mango fish Tilapia, very healthy, and fruit salad made with pineapple and fresh fruits and shrimp that are very popular.”

Like many restaurants, La Mesa has a strong web presence. At www.la-mesa.com information is available about the menu items, daily food and drink specials, ordering gift cards, catering, and special events and promotions. 

With more than a hundred Mexican dining options in Omaha, Salazar was very pleased to be selected among the best.

“I want to thank the people from Omaha for voting us their favorite Mexican restaurant. We’ll try to continue improving,” said Salazar.
