W. Dale Clark Library 215 S. 15th St., (402) 444-4800.

11:00am, FREE.

Read it and Eat is an upcoming Omaha culinary conference at the Omaha Public Library. The menu of events begins at 11am with a greeting by Lois Friedman, an Omaha native who helped launch the Omaha Meals and Wheels, taught cooking classes, conducted cookbook lectures at Canyon Ranch and hosted “Taste of the Town” on KIWR-FM. Afterwards, Omaha food enthusiasts and historians host a discussion regarding the dramatic changes in the city’s menus over the past 50 years as well as how the changes reflect society and how we look at food. Isa Chandra Moskiwitz from Post Punk Kitchen, Christy Poshke of Grocery Geek, and Carrie McKenzie, chef and author of Saviour  Cuisine, will all be conducting cooking demonstrations, tips, and discussions. Guests are also encouraged to bring their own cookbooks for an organized cookbook exchange. The conference is free and open to the public.
