August 2nd
The Beat Seekers Record Release Show w/ The Architects
The Waiting Room Lounge, 6212 Maple St.
8 p.m., $7 at the door, onepercentproductions.com
The Beat Seekers is the latest hook-filled rock project of local punk-rock lifer Keith Fertwagner. The band will unveil their new full-length album Loud and F**king Clear at this show, which the group raised more than $3700 on Kickstarter to produce and manufacture. Fertwagner also serves as music director of the local School of Rock. Fertwagner and other band members were also in Fonzarellies prior to forming the Beat Seekers. The current band plays a punkish brand of power-pop, which also references 90s pop-punk and late 80s Los Angeles glam metal. Joining them on this show is Kansas City’s the Architects, who have just released Border Wars, a combination EP and a first installment of a graphic novel illustrated by Mallory Dorn. The Architects expertly carve out taut, live-wired, white-knuckled punk-pop.
