Oil painter Conrad Hinz is showing work at Connect Gallery, 3901 Leavenworth with a mid-show opening this Friday, Jan. 16th, 5:30-9 pm.

The oil works in this show reflect Hinz’ wide interest in art history from Surrealism-and Salvador Dali- back to Albrecht Durer.

Classically trained in painting techniques, Hinz also likes to combine realism and abstraction, dipping at will into a broad array of eras and artists’ styles.

But he also plans to continue exploring dream images of traditional myths and healing practices passed on from his Lakota heritage.

Hinz graduated from the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. after high school at Brownell-Talbot in Omaha, and creates murals, figurative paintings on car doors, and huge abstract works in oil.

Described as an “artist on fire”, Hinz often uses his wife and 24-pound cat in his work.
