Brennan Appointment Gets Legal Scrutiny
Some say outgoing Omaha City Councilmember Rich Pahls violated Nebraska state statute by voting for Colleen Brennan as his successor. On Dec. 22, Brennan was appointed by the City Council by a 5-2 vote to serve the remainder of Councilman Pahls’ term. The city’s legal department says there is no law prohibiting Pahls from voting for his successor who was to be sworn in Jan. 12.
