Olive Garden

Construction begina in the next two weeks at Shadow Lake as the former Old Chicago becomes Olive Garden. The chain has been interested in finding a fit since the Papillion mall’s launch in 2009, but struggled to find a suitable bay. The 6,214 square feet vacated by Old Chicago in March of 2020 met all of OG’s requirements. The fast-casual Italian restaurant plans to open this fall. With this development, can we all agree that 2021 is the year we start eating bread again?

Jack and Mary’s

After 47 years in service and countless awards, Jack and Mary’s has announced via Facebook their decision to close. Owner Kip Oetter revealed a $330,000 loss in 2020, and stated that 2021 had also resulted in six-figure losses. With a 70% reduction of in-person dining, the 8,000 square foot establishment wasn’t able to move forward. The post was met with support and sadness, but closed on a hopeful note that we would one day see Jack and Mary’s serving again.
