* Alice In Chains is set to headline the first announced outdoor show of 2013. The alternative rock band will take the Pinewood Bowl Theater, 3201 South Coddington Avenue in Lincoln, Friday, May 24th. Bullet For My Valentine and Halestorm are also scheduled for the show. Tickets are $39.50 and go on sale Friday, January 18th at Ticketmaster.com.
* HearNebraska.org will host the second installment of their Take Cover series Friday, January 18th at the Sydney Bar & Lounge, 5918 Maple St. The $5 show features local musicians covering a song by another local musician, as well as one of their original tunes. Performers include Dan McCarthy, John Klemmensen, Laura Burhenn, Ted Stevens and Rebecca Lowry.
* Sun Settings are saying goodbye to their old name and setting course for a to-be-announced new moniker, as well as a slightly new line-up. The band announced that their show last Thursday at the House of Loom, 1012 South 10th St., would be their final show as Sun Settings, with a new name to be unveiled at their Friday, February 8th show at O’Leaver’s Pub, 1322 South Saddle Creek Road.
* Darren Keen has set a tentative release date for the release of his latest Touch People album, Brain Massage. Keen revealed a few cryptic details on Facebook, including plans to release the new music in April and the promise that it’s “coming out in an interesting format, and I hope to sort of adopt it as my way of releasing music for a while,” Keen wrote.
* The Sweatshop Gallery, 2727 North 62nd St., will present the launch of not-for-profit record label Club No Quiet on Friday, February 1st, featuring performances by Howard, George Glass, Rock Paper Sisters, Sister Kisser and The Wayward Little Satan Daughters. The bill is surprising mostly for the return of Howard, the indie band fronted by Annamarie McClellan. The band announced a hiatus early in 2012 after building a bit of local music scene buzz.
* The Brownville Concert Series has booked eight performers to celebrate their 23rd season of entertainment. The season kicks off in March and runs through December.
