Goulash and spätzle and tortes, oh my! Omaha favorite Gerda’s is back to satisfy all your German food cravings.

Gerda’s Pop Up

Last month, Gerda’s relaunched their Website and began rekindling their social media presence. The plan was to begin offering online ordering from the bakery, as well as occasional pop-ups of Gerda’s traditional German cuisine.

In an announcement made on Gerda’s Facebook Page, a pick-up only pop-up is scheduled for Saturday, July 17th.

“For this event we have teamed up with our good friends at Order Sons Of Italy In America in Omaha, Nebraska on south 10th Street. We will be offering goulash, spätzle (German noodles), kartoffel salat (German potato salad) and a small variety of Gerda’s desserts (Black Forest torte, German chocolate cake and apfelstrudel).”

Be sure to place your pick-up orders now as supplies will be very limited!

Potbelly Closes

Announced via a sheet of paper taped to the door, Potbelly in Papillion has permanently closed. The move was sudden, initially closing the lobby on June 28th, before closing the drive-through as well on June 30th. The 74th and Dodge and 117th and Blondo locations remain open at this time.

Taste of Africa

This Saturday July 10th, Elmwood Park hosts Taste of Africa from 12pm to 6pm. Enjoy regional African cuisine from Liberia, Nigeria, Zambia, and more. Expect music, boutique items, and offerings from more than a dozen local vendors. Ice cold ginger juice and KO drinks will be on hand to keep you cool, while the spices from African Farms keep things hot. Bring an umbrella and an empty stomach!
