State Attorney General Jon Bruning announced two billsto restrict drugs in Nebraska, in preparation for the state’s new legislative session that gets underway Jan. 5. One bill proposes a ban on chemical compounds found in K2, a synthetic, marijuana-like drug. Certain versions of the drug were banned at the federal level, but it is still available in Nebraska as drug makers have found recipes that skirt the regulation. Bruning also proposed an online tracking system for the purchase of drugs used to make methamphetamine. Current state law limits the amount of pseudoephedrine an individual can purchase from one supplier, but does not prevent them from making numerous purchases from different suppliers.
