Hey gang, welcome to my very special BIRTHDAY episode of Movieha! Unwrap this gift with your ears and meet me on the other side.
Hope you liked it! We’re still running out of time for our insta-sequel segment, so it’s going to remain a bonus episode on Monday. Below we have the weekend box office predictions, the trailer we mentioned in On Your Radar, and the Netflix movie for next week. But before we get to that, I have a special request for you: My cousin James Syrek is making a short film that I’ve had the pleasure of hearing lots about. It’s a twisty, turny psychological thriller and I can’t WAIT to see it get made. It’s called Syncope , and it needs YOUR help. He’s a bit short on the final bit of funding, so he needs a few well-intended investors to help him cross the finish line. Please, please, please head HERE to pitch in whatever you can to help a dear, dear friend and talented artist get his vision made. As anyone will tell you, indie flicks are hard to make, especially short films, so do what you can to help someone who I promise won’t let you down get his vision to the world.
And now, BOX OFFICE HAIKUS!

Now, on to this week’s predictions!
Box Office Predictions for May 20-22
1.) The Hangover Part 2 – $85 million
This is the same film,
but somehow it’s still funny
How did that happen?
2.) Kung Fu Panda 2 – $82 million
Fat panda is back!
And he still does karate!
Do you still love him?
3.) Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides – $40 million
Walk the plank, assholes.
Your run at plundering ends!
Back to the theme park!
4.) Bridesmaids – $15 million
Love you, Kristen Wiig!
Funniest movie this year!
Take that, Hangover .
5.) Thor – $10 million
You done good, blondie.
But it’s back to Asgard now.
You will be back soon.
On Your Radar: The Island Trailer
This is a weird blend of generic Hollywood movie…and insane Gondry-esque visuals. The dive straight into existentialism seems brilliant and blissful. I for one am in, what say you?
Netflix: Four Lions Trailer
Based on the recommendation of Andrew Merczak, we are willing to try this streaming flick about the funny side of terrorism. Bin Laden’s dead, so we can all laugh about it now, right? No? Yeah, that’s why I want to see if this works as well as it seems to in the trailer!
