One of the great successes this year was discovering a defect in how 15 year license revocations are being imposed. Essentially, the Court was imposing incomplete sentences, which opened the door for getting back into Court. Petersen Law has secured live saving and rehabilitating ignition interlock systems in over 77 improperly imposed 15 year driving revocation cases. Petersen says “It would be terrifying to be banned from driving in a metropolitan area like Omaha where there is inadequate public transportation. Not being able to drive for fifteen years affect jobs, family and is an obstacle to normal daily living. I had one client that could not attend his mother’s funeral because he couldn’t get a ride. Many people are doing $20 an hour jobs for $10 because of the license disability. Getting them a license has been one of the most rewarding services I’ve provided in during 17 years as a lawyer. Being able to drive again changes people’s lives for the better.”
